Speaking of Albino, have you ever heard of the fascinating albino redwood tree? Only 60 known trees are known to exist in the wild, and just like Snowflake – they are special and beautiful. We don´t usually share this story to promote Bios Urn® because the characteristic that made him different was what condemned him to live in captivity – but we are honored to have been a part of his end-of-life plans, and happy to see his living tree flourishing year after year. ![]() They thought the tree be a great symbol to memorialize the existence of a unique animal, so they planted little snowflake´s Bios Urn® and tree on a parcel of land in Barcelona’s zoo which can still be viewed today. When Bios Urn® was just an unknown project, the authorities of the Barcelona zoo decided to contact us to see if we could create an early prototype of the urn and used it to plant a ‘ Calodendrum Capense’, a South African tree that can grow to be 20 meters high. The Calodendrum Capense, more commonly known as Cape Chestnut, is a beautiful pink flowering tree. But what most people don’t know is that he was cremated and planted using a Bios Urn®. Well, everyone knows why “little snowflake” was so special, he was the only white (albino) gorilla in the world. He is one of the most famous silverback gorillas and has even been featured on the BBC documentary fil, Titus: The Gorilla King. He passed away in 2003 from skin cancer, which was undoubtedly related to his oculocutaneous albinism. A native of the Virunga mountains, Titus was born on August 24, 1974, and was named by the famous primatologist Dian Fossey. ![]() Snowflake was famous for being the only known albino gorilla in the world. Deforestation and hunting are the greatest threats to their species. Currently, all three kinds of African wild gorillas - “the western lowland gorilla, the eastern lowland gorilla, and the mountain gorilla - are in trouble.” It is estimated that fewer than 10,000 remain left in the wild. During his time at the zoo, he fathered he fathered 21 gorillas, who have now given birth to 10 grandchildren. He lived nearly 40 years in the zoo, and was its most famous resident. Snowflake was captured in Equatorial Guinea in 1966 and then transferred to the Barcelona Zoo. He lived in the Barcelona Zoo for a majority of its life. for allowing me to use their screenshots and therefore helping me fullfilling the guide a little more! You guys are amazing! :PĪnd a special thanks to Papyrus from the guides discord server for helping me out on making sure we have all animals for this guide!Īny questions? Just leave me a comment here and I'm glad to help out if I can.“Little Snowflake” (Copito De Nieve) was the world´s only known albino gorilla. You can find my collection in the workshop for just 2 imaginary money and use them for your own fotosessions. MIssing the DLC animals? I moved them to their very own guide!īy the way, I've used my fotoenclosures for the screenshots, which I've build for purposes like this. But you can guess it, I'll be having fun on doing so!įound a special coat? Send your screenshots in - Datlens Guide Box And with the great amount of animals in Planet Zoo it'll take me quite a while to get them all for this guide. With that said, enjoy the beauty of Planet Zoos incredible shiny animals!Ĭollectiong all albino/white/shiny whatever variants in Planet Zoo is a lot of fun and I enjoy every moment of introducing these beauties to my zoos. Also, due to the high amount of animals and needed screenshots, splitting the Enclosure Animals category was necessary. I've added pictures of the normal looking animals, because for some it is a little difficult to see the difference without direct comparison. That might change in the future with new updates and likely more DLCs comming down the road. We can by now confirm that the animals not present in this guide have no special variation such as an albino form. Luckily, the game leaves a note at the animals color gene if it's an albinism, melanism and more, which I have added to the notes beneath the screenshots!ģ. The eastern brownsnake however is clearly a case of albinism, visible within it's red eyes. Just look at the iconic white lions, who are in fact no albinos and just have white fur (not making them less fancy though). Only both parents being albinos guarantees you getting some shiny babies.įor a more detailed "How To", check out my guide on How to breed albinos yourself! ![]() Welcome to my little guide about the shinys we can see in the amazing world of Planet Zoo!īefore we start with the pictures of these beauties, I have to say a few words:īreeding them is kinda random and cannot be planned unless you already have at least one or two albinos in your zoo.
